WrestleMania VIII was the eighth annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). It took place on April 5, 1992, at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana. Nine matches were shown during the live broadcast, with one dark match occurring before the event. The event marked the final WrestleMania event held under the WWF name and the Attitude Era, as the company was renamed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in May and entered the Ruthless Aggression Era later that year. It was also the last WrestleMania held before the introduction of the brand extension just a week after the event. The record-breaking attendance for the SkyDome of 68,237 grossed approximately $6.1 million CAD ($3.9 million USD). WrestleMania weekend also included WWF Fan Axxess at the Canadian National Exhibition's Automotive Building.The card included two main events, both of which shared the official promotional poster. In the first, CM Punk '12 defeated Chris Jericho '12, Triple H '02, Chris Jericho '02, WWF Champion Ric Flair '92, Randy Savage '92, Sheamus '12, Daniel Bryan '12 to win the Undisputed WWF Championship and in the second, The Rock defeated John Cena, Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice in the main attraction match dubbed "Icon vs. Icon" and was advertised a year in advance, while in the main event, T In other prominent matches on the undercard Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Scott Hall, The Undertake '92 defeated The Undertaker '12, The Undertaker '02 Jake the Snake Roberts '92, Triple H '12, Ric Flair '02 in a no disqualification Hell in a Cell match with Shawn Michaels serving as the special guest referee, and Rob Van Dam defeated William Regal to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship.As a consequence of the double main event, WrestleMania VIII carried two taglines rather than the usual one, those being "The Macho/Flair Affair!" and "Friendship Torn Apart!" WrestleMania VIII would also be the first time since the inaugural WrestleMania that the closing match was not contested for the WWF Championship.
